我是奕嘉,文字與劇場集體創作者、教學工作者。 劇場作品常以離散記憶的經驗與研究出發
,透過玩耍和合作,顛覆權力結構,邀請藝術家、兒童少年、成人市民對話,在過程中重新

奕嘉畢業於政治大學英文系,曾任高中職英文教師。獲美國德州大學奧斯丁分校的編劇所獎學金前往就讀,在學期間任教大學部編劇寫作課,畢業論文探索離散創傷、集體創作合作、參與式劇場實踐上的關聯。現駐點在台灣和線上世界,同時也是國際兒少表演藝術組織遠距校友計畫的成員。曾獲台灣文化部藝術新秀補助、國際兒少表演藝術協會獎學金(IPAY)、日舞影展劇場駐村計畫決選、台北兒童藝術節劇本徵選首獎。奕嘉與德州大學奧斯丁分校Drama for School計畫,持續與臺灣實驗教育推動中心合作,設計戲劇融入學科的教師專業成長課程。
截至2021年,奕嘉在國立政治大學英文系輔系、國立臺灣科技大學語言中心任兼任教師。今年在文化部青年扶植藝術補助下,執行一名為<自由與歸屬:病人自主共融藝術>的小計畫。
最喜歡的事物有:陽光與風中的樹、和孩子一起讀繪本、與不同機構合作,發展用藝術引導
凝聚力、批判思考與解決問題的時光。未來希望能更進一步帶領青少年進行藝術式的社會參
與、介紹劇場集體創作的合作方法、介紹可協助多元智能、對話的線上教室方法、和寫更多
給大人小孩看的詩與童話。
I-Chia Chiu is a writer, devised theatre-maker, and educator. She designs artistic processes and products that guide participant-collaborators to practice playfulness and critical thinking for personal growth and social change. Chiu’s artistry often draws from her research on diaspora, belonging, and memory through collaboration with audiences and artists across various fields. In her teaching practice, she designs professional learning experiences to activate learning through art-based and socially-engaged approaches.
Chiu is currently based in Taiwan and the virtual world to collaborate with artists across countries.
In 2021, she's teaching EFL creative writing & reading courses as a part-time lecturer at the National Taiwan University of Science and Technology. She's excited to design art-based experiences in her partnership with Patient Autonomy Research Center (Taiwan), Drama for Schools (UT Austin) and Taiwan Experimental Education Center.
Chiu is a also member of the virtual alumni program of International Performing Arts for Youth, and has received trainings from the Teaching Artist Project by Community Word Project (USA/ Virtual) . She also holds an M.F.A. degree in the Playwriting Program at University of Texas at Austin (USA) and a B.A. in English at National Chenchi University.
Other small things about Chiu:
For Chiu, theatre has become a vehicle to sparkle dialogue and possibilities. She believes seemingly unrelated events shape who we are. Her school phobia in adolescence. Her two brain surgeries. And her decision to study in the US.
Chiu didn't start writing plays in English until she came to the US to study playwriting. (Chiu's native language is Mandarin Chinese. She's also learning Hakka, which is a dialect and culture to be preserved in Taiwan.) She got appointed to teach playwriting at UT in 2018 and fell into love with teaching again. She received Jim Rye fellowship from International Performing Arts for Youth in 2019. Since then, she started practicing writing for young audience and civic practice.
We are all excited to see what would happen to her in 2020.
